Crystal Reports does not recognise varchar(max) columns

Hi,

we have changed various columns in our SQLserver database to datatype varchar(max).

It now appears that Crystal Reports does not recognize these columns?? They don't appeear in the database expert forms, even without the "match datatypes" option. Many reports are no longer useable now.

I had a work-around in CR XI r2, by using a file-dsn instead of ADO database access, but in CR 2013 this no longer works.

What's going on?

Any ideas?

Thanks for any hints and tricks
