Group count question

I am trying to get a count of how many patient visits in our clinic in 1 month.

My database appears something like this:

John Smith     2/1/2015     Waiting Room     10 minutes    

John Smith     2/1/2015     Room 1                 5 minutes

John Smith     2/1/2015      Exam Room         7 minutes

Sara White      2/4/2015     Waiting Room       8 minutes

Sara White      2/4/2015      Room 2                6 minutes

Sara White      2/4/2015      Exam Room         7 minutes

John Smith      2/15/2015   Waiting Room      9 minutes

John Smith      2/15/2015   Room 3                 4 minutes

John Smith      2/15/2015   Exam Room           10 minutes

Since "John Smith" is the same patient but was seen twice, he should be counted as "2" visits for February.  "Sara White" had "1" visit in February.

So my total needs to be "3 patient visits for February".

How can I get a correct count in Crystal, since a distinct count would eliminate some visits, if the same person was seen twice?

P.S.  I would like to use this "correct total" in another formula I am using to create a formula field computing an average.
